Animal Breeding in Germany

Genetic improvement of the agricultural livestock is coordinated by the breeding organizations. They have a long tradition of more than 100 years. The breeding organizations are competitive associations, cooperatives and companies for breeding and insemination. They target their breeding programs at market requirements.

The organization German Livestock e. V. was founded to support the interests of the animal breeding structures in Germany, especially in the export business. German Livestock itself is a member of the German Export Association for Food and Agriproducts (GEFA). As a service, German Livestock arranges contacts between German exporters of breeding animals and customers abroad.
